From a high-profile parade in Delhi to flag hoisting across states, India marks its 77th Republic Day with pride, security preparedness, and nationwide celebrations.

India is celebrating its 77th Republic Day today, with a strong wave of patriotism sweeping across the country. The highlight of the celebrations is the grand Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, which will present India’s military strength, cultural diversity, and democratic values to the world.

The celebrations officially begin at 10:30 am. As per tradition, President Droupadi Murmu will unfurl the national flag, followed by the national anthem and a 21-gun salute, marking the formal commencement of the parade. Adding global significance to the event, a foreign dignitary is attending as the Chief Guest this year.

One of the key attractions of the Delhi parade is the display of India’s defence capability. The Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will showcase modern tanks, missiles, and advanced combat equipment, with special emphasis on indigenously developed defence systems, reflecting the country’s push for self-reliance.

The parade will also feature over 20 tableaux from various states and Union Territories. These colourful presentations will highlight regional culture, heritage, and achievements. Karnataka’s tableau is expected to draw special attention for its distinctive theme and visual appeal.

A major crowd-puller will be the Indian Air Force flypast, where Rafale, Sukhoi fighter jets, and helicopters will perform precision aerial manoeuvres, creating a thrilling spectacle in the skies above Kartavya Path.

Continuing recent traditions, women’s participation remains a key focus this year. Women soldiers and contingents will march in the parade, underlining the growing role of women in India’s defence forces.

Given the scale of the event, Delhi is under high security alert. The Kartavya Path area and surrounding zones are monitored with thousands of CCTV cameras, facial recognition systems, and sniper deployments. Across the capital, over 70,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety.

Republic Day celebrations are not limited to Delhi. Flag hoisting and cultural programmes are being held across all state capitals and district headquarters, including Bengaluru’s Manekshaw Parade Ground, making it a truly nationwide celebration.
