A shocking incident unfolded in Karnataka’s Shivamogga prison as a murder convict, Parushuram, resorted to extreme measures to conceal a mobile phone from prison authorities. Parushuram, 38, ingested the device to evade regular checks, as per reports.

His actions came to light when he began experiencing severe stomach pains, prompting prison staff to rush him to McGann Teaching District Hospital in Shivamogga. Subsequently, he was transferred to Bengaluru’s Victoria Hospital for surgery.

During ultrasound scanning, doctors were shocked to discover an electronic gadget lodged in his stomach, leading to the decision to perform surgery. After a tense 75-minute procedure, surgeons successfully extracted a Chinese mobile phone from his pylorus, the opening of the small intestine.

Reportedly, Parushuram had harboured the device in his stomach for nearly three weeks. Explaining the necessity of surgery, a doctor emphasized that the phone had become trapped in the pylorus, impeding natural excretion.

Notably, Parushuram had concealed his actions from prison authorities until his distressing symptoms surfaced, prompting an investigation. Consequently, authorities have filed a case against him for smuggling mobile phone into the facility.

This daring attempt to circumvent prison regulations highlights the challenges faced by authorities in combating illicit activities within correctional facilities. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ingenuity displayed by some inmates in their attempts to flout regulations.
