Hyderabad opener Aman Rao creates List A history with a sensational unbeaten 200 against a star-studded Bengal bowling attack in Rajkot.

Hyderabad’s young opening batter Aman Rao produced a stunning performance in domestic cricket by scoring an unbeaten double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scripting history in just his third List A match. The 21-year-old achieved the feat against Bengal in Rajkot, dominating a bowling attack filled with international stars.

Aman Rao, who had played only two List A matches before this game, announced his arrival in style with a fearless and fluent knock. After scoring 39 runs on debut against Baroda and 13 runs against Chandigarh, the young batter exploded in his third appearance, rewriting records with his bat.

Opening the innings for Hyderabad, Aman brought up his century in 107 balls. What followed was a breathtaking display of power-hitting. He needed just 47 more deliveries to add the next hundred runs, keeping the scoreboard ticking at a rapid pace. In a dramatic finish, Aman required six runs off the final ball to reach his double century. Facing India pacer Akash Deep, he struck a towering six to complete his unbeaten 200, sending the crowd into celebration.

What made the knock even more special was the quality of bowling he faced. Bengal fielded a strong attack featuring Mohammed Shami, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar and Shahbaz Ahmed. Despite their experience and international exposure, the bowlers struggled to contain Aman, who played with confidence, timing and controlled aggression.

Aman Rao had earlier caught attention during the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy last December. In a match against Mumbai, he stunned spectators by scoring 24 runs in a single over off Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur, smashing two sixes and three boundaries in Pune.

Known for his aggressive approach and suitability for white-ball cricket, Aman’s rise has been closely watched. He was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for ₹30 lakh at the IPL mini auction last year. Though born in the United States, Aman began his cricket journey in Hyderabad, which continues to be the foundation of his domestic career.
