  • Postponement had triggered sharp criticism from Venkatesh Prasad

Team Brijesh says there is now “no impediment” to conducting the polls and has urged the Electoral Officer to resume the election process as originally scheduled.

The Brijesh Patel-led faction of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has issued a formal communication stating that the association’s elections can now be conducted as per the original election calendar. This follows a key development, when the High Court set aside the ex parte interim order that had halted the poll process.

The interim order had been secured by KSCA member A.V. Shashidhara in the City Civil Court without KSCA being heard. Following this, the Election Officer suspended the November 30 election schedule and deferred the polls to December 30, directing candidates to first resolve the eligibility-related dispute in court.

However, the KSCA management moved the High Court challenging this interim stay, and the division bench has now vacated it, clearing the way for the election process to resume. According to Team Brijesh, this means there is “no impediment to conduct the elections.”

The faction has confirmed that a letter has already been sent to the Election Officer requesting that he reconsider his postponement decision and proceed with elections as per the previously announced calendar, barring only a change in the scrutiny date.

Team Brijesh, led by K.N. Shanth Kumar, has emphasised that it is keen on holding elections in full compliance with the High Court’s directions and ensuring that Karnataka cricket administration continues without disruption. They assured members that their primary goal remains safeguarding the state’s cricketing interests and maintaining KSCA’s BCCI affiliation so that players are not affected.

This response comes a day after former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad and his team expressed strong anger over the postponement, alleging that the delay was politically motivated and triggered by the growing support for his panel.

With the High Court order now clearing the legal bottleneck, the ball is squarely in the Election Officer’s court to decide whether the polls will revert to the original timeline or continue with the revised December 30 schedule.
