Royal Challengers Bengaluru has pledged ₹25 lakh each to the families of 11 fans who lost their lives in the June 4 Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede, launching its long-term social initiative, RCB Cares.

Eighty-six days after the Chinnaswamy Stadium stampede claimed 11 lives during RCB’s title celebrations, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has unveiled a renewed gesture of support. The tragedy on June 4, 2025, when thousands surged toward the stadium gates to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL trophy, remains etched as one of the darkest moments in Bengaluru’s sporting history. While over 50 fans were injured, 11 lives were lost in the chaos, prompting widespread criticism of safety lapses and the franchise’s muted response in the days that followed.

In an emotional statement, RCB called the victims “part of the RCB family” and promised not just financial aid, but a long-term commitment to honour their memory. “Their absence will echo in the memories of each one of us,” the statement read, highlighting that RCB Cares will go beyond one-time support and work towards meaningful community action.

The announcement marks a significant step-up from the earlier pledge of ₹10 lakh. For many, this initiative reflects an attempt at redemption, shifting the focus from celebration to compassion, and reinforcing the bond between the franchise and its supporters.
