KSCA and RCB delegation meets Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara; safety, crowd control, and Kunha Commission recommendations to guide final decision.
The future of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) matches at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium has moved a step closer to clarity, with a high-level meeting held between the Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara and a joint delegation of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and RCB management.
The delegation was led by KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad and RCB Chief Operating Officer Rajesh Menon, along with Vinay Mruthyunjaya. The team met the Home Minister to hold detailed discussions on the feasibility of hosting RCB matches in Bengaluru, especially in view of upcoming IPL fixtures.
Speaking after the meeting, Venkatesh Prasad said the discussions were positive and constructive. He confirmed that the delegation explained their preparedness and sought early clearance for hosting the matches. “We met the Home Minister today along with Rajesh Menon and Vinay Mruthyunjaya. There was a detailed discussion, and we have been assured that a final decision will be taken after another meeting on February 12,” he said.

He added that KSCA has requested the government to take a swift decision, keeping in mind the expectations of lakhs of RCB fans. “We want the venue to be finalised at the earliest. We believe RCB supporters will definitely get good news soon. KSCA will provide all recommendations and support required,” he stated.
The Home Minister clarified that the government will carefully examine all safety aspects before granting clearance. He said that the recommendations of Justice Kunha Commission must be followed strictly. A government-appointed committee, led by the Director General of Police and the Bengaluru City Police Commissioner, has already submitted its suggestions regarding crowd control, security arrangements, and public safety.
Dr Parameshwara said a fresh meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday, February 12, to review these recommendations and take a final call. He also said discussions would be held with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah before arriving at a decision.

“With IPL matches approaching, clearance from our side is necessary. We will review what steps have been taken to implement safety measures. While fans want matches in Bengaluru, public safety is our top priority. Incidents like stampedes must not be repeated. After considering all aspects, we will take a final decision,” the Home Minister said.
The outcome of the February 12 meeting is now keenly awaited by RCB fans across Karnataka.
