Robbers planned a 25 crore heist but seized only 7.11 crores from a CMS cash van, exposing major security lapses

The sensational 7.11 crore robbery case that shook the city has taken a new twist. Investigations reveal that the accused had originally planned a far bigger heist, targeting nearly 25 crores, but ended up with much less.

The incident unfolded when a CMS Agency cash van was transporting funds from JP Nagar to the Lingarajpur office. CMS, India’s largest cash management company, handles nearly 80 percent of the country’s currency movement. On several occasions, vans have carried amounts as high as 50 crores. The accused believed that on the day of the robbery, the vehicle would be transporting over 25 crores, making it one of the biggest robbery attempts in India’s history.

However, their expectations fell short. The van carried only 7 crores 11 lakhs, earmarked for distribution across ATMs from the Lingarajpur office. The accused, who had meticulously planned the operation, were reportedly disappointed by the lower amount. Despite this, the robbery created a massive stir across the city, drawing public attention and sparking debates about security lapses in cash transportation.

Police officials confirmed that the gang had studied CMS’s routes and schedules, anticipating a larger haul. Their miscalculation not only reduced the loot but also exposed their elaborate planning once the case was cracked. Authorities are now tightening security protocols around cash vans, especially in highbreaking crime.
