Metro pillar work at Silkboard from Jan 10: Traffic curbs, detours announced on ORR

Traffic restrictions will come into effect at Silkboard Junction from January 10, 2026, due to metro pillar installation on Outer Ring Road. Bengaluru Traffic Police have issued a detailed advisory with multiple diversion routes for commuters.

Bengaluru Traffic Police issue detailed advisory as metro pillar installation begins at Silkboard Junction, warning of congestion and listing alternative routes for key corridors.

Commuters using Silkboard Junction on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road should brace for traffic congestion starting January 10, 2026, as metro construction work enters a critical phase. The Bengaluru Traffic Police, under the jurisdiction of Madiwala Traffic Police Station, have issued a detailed traffic advisory to manage vehicle movement during the installation of metro pillars.

According to the advisory dated January 9, 2026, barricades will be placed around the construction zone at Silkboard Junction to facilitate pillar installation. Due to reduced road space, heavy traffic buildup is expected not only at Silkboard but also on surrounding roads. Motorists have been urged to plan their travel in advance and strictly follow the notified diversions.

Alternate routes announced

For vehicles moving from Marathahalli towards Banashankari via Silkboard Junction:

Commuters must take a right turn at 14th Main HSR Junction and continue via Automart Junction, Aishwarya Junction, Krupanidhi Junction, Water Tank Junction, SP Road Junction, Checkpost Junction, Tavarekere Junction, Dairy Circle, and finally reach Bannerghatta Road.

For vehicles travelling from Marathahalli towards Hosur Road through Silkboard:

Drivers should take a left turn at 5th Main HSR Junction and proceed through Mangammanapalya Road to access Hosur Road.

For vehicles heading from Rupena Agrahara towards HSR 5th Main via Silkboard:

Traffic must move via the Silkboard Flyover, take a right turn at Madiwala Police Station Junction, and continue through Krupanidhi Junction, Aishwarya Junction, and Automart Junction.

For vehicles travelling from 29th Main Junction towards HSR 5th Main through Silkboard:

Motorists are advised to take a left turn at Silkboard Junction, followed by a right turn at Madiwala Police Station Junction, and then proceed via Krupanidhi Junction, Aishwarya Junction, and Automart Junction.

The traffic police have appealed to the public to cooperate, follow signboards on the ground, and use alternative routes to reduce congestion during the construction period.
