During the eclipse, the Moon will appear larger and brighter than usual because it will be closer to Earth. As Earth’s shadow completely covers the lunar surface, the Moon will shift to a deep golden-red hue, creating the dramatic phenomenon often called a Blood Moon.
According to astronomers, the eclipse will last from 11:00 PM to 12:22 AM IST, offering over an hour of breathtaking visuals. The rare astronomical show will be prominently visible across India, China, Russia, parts of Western Australia, East Africa, and much of the Arab world. Skywatchers in Britain and Western Europe will catch the eclipse’s shadow shortly after moonrise, while North America will miss the full eclipse, except parts of western Alaska, which will witness a partial event.

Scientists explain the striking red glow as a result of Earth’s atmosphere filtering sunlight. Shorter blue wavelengths scatter away, while longer red wavelengths bend towards the Moon, bathing it in a coppery shade.
With its wide visibility and rarity, this cosmic event promises both scientific intrigue and visual wonder, making it a night to remember for stargazers across continents.
